About Ms. Moore
Having begun her teaching career in 1973, Ms. Moore joined the Colina staff in 1987; in prior years, she taught at McKeesport High School, in Pennsylvania, and at T.O. High. Before teaching, she worked in a variety of capacities: library; fast food; movie theater; secretarial. Her hobbies and interests include reading, crafts, cross-stitch, hiking; biking, dancing and traveling.

Ms. Moore, who is Colina's English department chairperson, taught 7th grade Honors English and Honors Social Science.  Then, because she is a reading specialist, she coordinated the development of the middle school and high school reading programs.  She taught reading intervention programs for several years.  Now she is teaching English and Social Studies again.

Ms. Moore’s favorite things about teaching 6th grade are the enthusiasm of the students, having lunch two days a week with students, great pieces of literature, and the excitement of ancient civilizations.

Very soon after the teacher grades a test or assignment, it is updated for parents and students on Zangle ParentConnect.

1. Find out the assignment:
a. Call a Study Buddy (at the start of the school year your student should exchange phone numbers with at least two students per class); or
b. Look up the assignment in Zangle ParentConnect (Parent needs to login with parent PIN/ Password.*)
c. Check with teacher upon return.

2. Obtain any missed handouts:
a. Prearrange with a Study Buddy that if either of you is absent, the other should pick up an extra set of handouts from the teacher; then you and your parent should arrange (with the family that picked up) for FAXing or pickup of the handouts; or
b. Obtain from teacher on return.

3. Get any explanation you need:
Meet with teacher after school.

District policy stipulates that a student has as many days as he/she was absent to make up missed work. However, it is desirable that as much work as possible be done during one's absence.
No late homework or classwork accepted, per 6th grade Humanities policy. Projects and tests must be made up until Friday after the week of absence.
