Advanced Wood for 8th graders
A year-long Advanced Wood class is available for 8th graders who have previously taken Beginning Wood as part of their Exploratory Courses rotation in 7th grade. To sign up, in the spring of students' seventh-grade year, elective forms are handed out, at which time students may sign up for Advanced Wood for eighth grade. Please note, however, that for placing students, academic courses are assigned first; after that, if the individuals student's schedule permits, the student can be assigned to Advanced Wood. (Otherwise, he/she will be assigned to a different elective.)

Beginning Wood, for 7th and 8th graders (part of Exploratory Courses)
A one-trimester Beginning Wood is offered as part of the Exploratory Courses for in each of 7th and 8th grades. To sign up, in the spring of students' sixth grade year, elective forms are handed out, at which time students may sign up for Exploratory Courses. In Exploratory, students rotate through three trimesterly courses such as Art, Computer, Music Appreciation, and Wood; not all courses are offered all periods. Note: Students may opt for Exploratory, but the specific courses to which they are assigned is not a student choice. Thus, Exploratory may or may not include Wood for a given student. Students are first placed according to their academic needs; whichever period is "left over" after academics are assigned is the one that is assigned as the Exploratory period.
