About the Thousand Oaks Youth Commission Awards
The Thousand Oaks Youth Commission each year recognizes teenagers who have made significant contributions to the community.

Each year Colina's counselors spearhead the nominations from our school; Colina students have received numerous Thousand Oaks Youth Commission Community Service Awards in past years.

The Thousand Oaks Youth Commission has indicated this procedure for selection of awards recipients:

The nominee must meet at least one of the following criteria:

a) a youth has donated personal time to the betterment of the community;
b) a youth who has contributed in a unique or special way to the community;
c) a youth who has made a significant contribution over the years to serving others.

A selection committee will be established for the purpose of selecting the recipients of the awards. Awards will be given in the form of a certificate. The awards ceremony may occur during a Youth Commission meeting. The Youth Commission may elect not to present any awards at a given time, if there are no eligible candidates. To identify awards recipients, the Commission will make nomination forms available to the community. The selection committee will review nominations and submit recommendations to the Commission for its consideration prior to the time the Commission wishes to take action. Final approval of awards recipients is subject to a majority vote of the Commission.

Disclaimer: Above criteria, which are unofficially stated here, are subject to change by the Youth Commission without notification for this web page description. Contact T.O. Youth Commission for exact up-to-date criteria.
