Silent Uninterrupted Reading for Enjoyment
Silent Uninterrupted Reading for Enjoyment (SURE), which takes place on all regular-bell-schedule days, provides a 15-minute time period immediately following lunch when students and staff can read for enjoyment without interruption. (In lieu of SURE, some students elect to obtain Peer Tutorial Help or to take part in certain specialized jobs or groups.)

The basic rules of the SURE program are as follows:
• Everyone, staff and students, should be reading.
• You may read a fiction or nonfiction book from home or the library. Textbooks and magazines are not to be read at this time.
• No homework or written work of any kind is to be done during SURE.
• In general, no bathroom passes, office summons, etc. are to be issued during SURE.
• No talking is permitted. Talking, other disruptions, or failure to bring a book to SURE will result in a loss of 5 points.
