| Research has shown that those students who are successful in secondary school are independent and self-directed learners. To work independently, the student must have developed organizational skills. As in any endeavor, the task becomes more achievable with the appropriate tools. The following list has been revised over the years as we see a need. We recommend strongly that every student have these materials for the school year. Your humanities or math teacher may ask for other supplies. You will be supplied with a math template at the beginning of the year. There will be a $6.00 replacement fee if you lose it. • Two 3-ring notebooks with ruler filler paper (at least 2-inch rings), or an "accordion" folder with ruled paper • Colina Assignment Notebook (to be purchased at orientation) • Subject dividers (15-16 dividers) • 1-2 zipper pouches (canvas, if possible) or pencil boxes • at least two black or blue ball-point pens • 1 Uni-ball roller • 2 green or red ball-point pens • pencils - a dozen regular #2; the rest can be mechanical, if you'd like; don't forget lead • small pencil sharpener with a compartment to catch shavings • 12" ruler • book covers for the books you keep at home • at least two highlighter markers (not yellow) • glue stick • set of assorted colored pencils (best choice: artist quality Spectra Color or Prang) • two 3-hole-punched single-subject spiral notebooks with different color covers if possible (college- or wide-rule; needs to fit in your notebook) • one composition book • 1 box each ultra-fine black Sharpie and fine black Sharpie • small pair of sciessors • inexpensive calculator • one box of Kleenex (to your homeroom teacher) |
