NO LATE WORK IS ACCEPTED OTHERWISE. You must be responsible to show me the late work; I will not ask you to show it to me. Credit will be given for completion, not correctness. Homework accounts for 20% of your grade. 7. In order to benefit and progress in class, you must participate orally. Each time that you participate in class, you will receive a point (stamp) for your effort. A curve will be established at the end of each grading period in order to determine your grade. Participation accounts for 20% of your grade. 8. In order to assess you accurately, 60% of your grade will be based on tests and quizzes. They will include writing, speaking, reading and listening. Pop quizzes can be given at any given time; however, major tests will be announced ahead of time. Typically, there is one test/quiz per week. The following test protocol will be followed: (1) Do not get out of our seat at any time during a test. Please raise your hand if you have a problem or a question and I will come to you. (2) Keep your eyes down and on your own paper. You must have your test covered at all times. (3) Talking of any kind during a test will result in a fail on that test. (4) All tests will be given at one sitting. I will not allow you to come back to finish a test during lunch or after school. (5) There will be no re-testing due to poor performance. (6) If you are absent on the day of the tst, you must take the test the day you return during class. It is your responsibility to make up the test. If you do not make up the test, you will receive a 0. (7) There will be a cumulative final exam at the end of each semester. 9. When grades are averaged, they are based on a percentage of points: 100-90% A; 89-80% B; 79-70% C; 69-60% D; 59-0% F. Grades are cumulative for each semester. We follow the high school calendar. Students receive high school credit for this course. You must have a C or higher at the end of the school year in order to progress to the next level of Spanish. 10. It will be computed into your grade every 4 - 5 weeks. TESTS/QUIZZES: Tests will be given at the end of each chapter and will occur about every 8 - 10 days depending on the chapter. Test components will be reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary and culture. A variety of short quizzes (announced or POP) may also be used. You may do so during the last three-five minutes of class (NOT during the passing period). GRADING: Point system will be used. All points will be used.
