2007-08: 'The Good, The Bad & The Ugly' Computer Fundraiser
The District has NO funding to purchase computers for Colina's1240 students. Our children need these tools to learn and be successful in today’s world. To be up-to-date, we need to buy 290 new computers. A computer loaded with school software costs approximately $1,000. Your donation at any level will make a difference at Colina.

2006-07: Computers on Wheels (COWs)

A major fundraiser has been for purchase of a third mobile computer lab—Computers on Wheels (COWs). Sincere gratitude to Colina's PTSA, Colina parents and other donors for raising $50,000 in 2006-07 to fund the COWs for our students. Thank you, COWs committee—Peggy Bishop, Christine Blatt, Sandra Goodman, Marie Kennedy, Lynne Merrill—and 2006-07 PTSA chairperson Kathleen Woodward. We are indebted, as well, to the PTSA Student Involement (PTSA-SI) component for their work on the COWs project.

One of the "ads" used to promote the COWs campaign featured PTSA-SI students.
Additionally, on numerous occasions before school near the parking lot, these students carried signs soliciting donations.
The campaign took on major proportions at PTSA meetings, in the monthly newsletter and on the website.

Barnes & Noble & Cold Stone fundraiser for Library & Outdoor Ed, Wed, Dec. 5, 2007

Individual downloadable pix

Please join the Colina community after our minimum day dismissal on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at Barnes & Noble (at the Westlake Promenade) for some earlier holiday shopping and at Cold Stone for an ice cream treat. Proceeds from the Barnes & Noble fundraiser will be used to purchase books for Colina's school library and a portion for Outdoor Ed scholarships. Proceeds from the Cold Stone fundraiser will be used for Colina's performing arts program. To receive credit for our purchases at Barnes & Noble, we must state "Colina" when purchasing books at the register or food at the cafeteria. Cold Stone requires the submission of a flyer that we will be passing out at school. Both of these companies graciously are extending these fundraisers through the following weekend. So, if you cannot join us on Dec. 5, you have until Dec. 11.
However, Dec. 5 is "the happening" day. At 5 p.m. Mr. Waters, Mr. Frank and Ms. Hogan will be greeting the Colina community at Barnes & Noble. At 5:15 p.m. Ms. Burke and the Drama dept. will be giving a brief preview of their play on the Barnes & Noble stage. At about 6:00 or 6:15 Ms. Sobrino and some of our fabulous Strings ensemble will be playing near the escalator. And throughout the evening the grade 6†teachers will be reading selections on the stage. At various times we will be joined by other administrators and staff.
There will be tables with teacher book selections that you can purchase for your students' classrooms. This is a night about the Colina community. Please plan on attending and get into the holiday spirit.
