The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards are sponsored by Prudential in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals. The program is supported by the American Association of School Administrators, the Council of the Great City Schools, the National Middle School Association, the National School Boards Association, the National School Public Relations Association, Nationol 4-H Council and Girl Scouts of the USA.
The Prudentlal Spirit ot Community Awards provide a unique opportunity for young people to be recognized for volunteer community service. Thousands of awards are given at the local level through participating middle level and high schools, Girl Scout councils and county 4-H programs. Then, the top high school and middle level volunteers are named in each state, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. State Honorees receive $1,000, a beautiful silver medallion and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., for several days of recognition events, including award ceremonies, sight-seeing tours, and a Congressional reception at the Capitol. Also in Washington, five middle level and five high school youth are named National Honorees, each receiving an additional $5,000, a gold medallion, and a crystal trophy for his or her school or youth organization.
