Office Practice
Office Practice is an elective course, primarily for grade 8 students. Each Office Practice helper, who must meet minimal qualifications for placement, is selected by his counselor and placed in one of a variety of situations: main office; counseling office; library; cafeteria; or etc.
Each student enrolled in Office Practice receives a letter grade, based on his/her performance, that appears on the Report Card and is part of the student's grade point average, and appears on the transcript.
Students assigned to the main or counseling office perform a range of students, which may include delivering summons slips for students, delivering messages or fliers to staff, collating/ stapling materials, filing, and other duties. Any documents that students handle are always of a nonconfidential nature. Students assigned to the library may assist with restocking books on shelves, cataloguing, labeling, etc.; cafeteria helpers might assist with stocking foods, preparing food displays, etc.
