Here are the prerequisites for and descriptions of grade 7 Honors courses for the current school year:

| Math 7H |
• Scored "Advanced" on the California Standards Test in Math; and
• "A" grades in all three trimesters in grade 6 math; and
• Placement subject to availability |
The course incorporatyes the skills and concepts which prepare students for Math 1H in the 8th grade. The areas of instruction include: number sense, algebra and functions, measurement and geometry, statistics, data analysis and probability, and mathematical reasoning. |
| Focus on Life Science 7CP |
(In 7th grade, Science is heterogeneous; i.e., there is no Honors; there are no levels.) |

| English 7H |
• Scored "Advanced" on the California Standards Test in English-Language Arts; and
• "A" grade all three trimesters in Reading and Writing (or in English). |
This course is designed to focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking, with emphasis on the general English curriculum and enrichment in the areas of literature, writing skills, and oral communication skills. |
| Social Science 7H |
• Concurrent enrollment in English 7H |
This course is structured to meet the needs of selected students and provide a qualitatively different curriculum within the basic social science framework. The objectives of the course will be accomplished through enhanced reading and discussion and audio visual aids and culminating activites for each unit. Emphasis will be on originality, creativity, research hands-on activities. |
