Students who become ill during the day should get a pass from the classroom teacher and report to the Health Office. Students should not go to the Health Office during the passing period without first reporting to the next period teacher to obtain a pass.

Each student is required to have an emergency card on file in the Health Office. When an injury occurs on the school grounds, a school employee will administer first aid and contact the student's parents. If the parents are not available, the physician on the emergency card will be contacted. The school district does not assume any responsibility for treatment given by a physician or ambulance service.
Medication may be brought to school only after arrangements to store it in the Health Office have been made with the clerk.

There is no medical, accident or health insurance provided by the school district for students involved in accidents or illness on the school grounds. A commercial student accident insurance policy is offered at a reasonable cost at the beginning of each school year, and families without this type of coverage are encouraged to purchase it.

Having Medication on Campus
Students are not allowed to have any medication on campus unless there is an
'Authorization For Any Medication Taken During School Hours' form that has been
filled out by the student's parents and their physician.  Pain relievers,
such as Tylenol and Advil, and cough drops are categorized as a medication.

Parents can come to the school and administer medication to their own child
without the above form on file.  They cannot, however, give their child
medication to carry on campus and take at a later time.  Even if they've
given their child a note that is not from a physician.

Notes to Excuse from P.E.
If your child has a note to excuse them from P.E. please have them come to
the Health Office.  The P.E. note needs to be copied.  Your child then takes
that copy to their P.E. teacher at the start of their P.E. class and the
original is filed in their Health file.

If your child is going to be excused for a great length of time, their P.E.
teacher needs a 'Medical Referral Form for Physical Education' filled out by
their physician.  This form lets the teacher know the diagnosis and what the
restrictions are, to better serve your child.

Student in a Cast or on Crutches
If your child is in a cast or is on crutches at school there is a form you,
their parent, must fill out and sign. We must have a note from the attending
physician stating that child may return to school and list restrictions with
an approximate time limit. Please come to the front office and the Health
Clerk will be happy to give you this form.

Immunizations
According to California State Law, to attend the seventh grade students are
to have the Hepititis B series (this is a series of three vaccinations) AND
a second M.M.R. (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations completed.  If your
student is in the sixth grade, please be sure this requirement has been met or
you are in the process of meeting this requirement. A copy of the updated
information needs to be submitted to the Health Clerk.

Most of our sixth graders are already in compliance.
