Synopsis
Meet the Vanderhof family! Martin Vanderhof (Grandpa) is the salty and philosophical patriarch who made his peace with the world, if not the Internal Revenue Service, long ago. His daughter, Penelope Sycamer, is a cheerful and unpublished playwright who is married to Paul, who manufactures firewroks in the cellar. They have two daughters, Alice, a Wall Street Journal secretary, and Essie Carmichael, an optimistic and inept ballerina, who is married to Ed, who has a passion for printing and for playing the xylophone. tony Kirby enters into this whirlwind of activity as Alice's boyfriend and the son of her boss, who is the epitome of success in the business world. Tony loves Alice in spite of the craziness in her family home. Alice, on the other hand, is mortified by what happens when she brings Tony to the house. Despite the differences between the two families, Alice and Tony are soon engaged, and with the help of her family plan a dinner party for Tony's parents--at the Vanderhof hom. The family assures Alice that they will be on their best behavior, and the night is set. Interestingly enough, Tony arrives with his parents unexpectedly a day early! And the Vanderhof tribe, rather than being on their best behavior are at their unplanned and hilarious worst. The Kirbys, straight-laced and predictable, are appalled at the wild, unorthodox Vanderhofs. The Kirbys are set against the proposed marriage of Tony and Alice even at Tony's instistence that he still wants to marry Alice. With the help of Grandpa Vanderhof's philosophical wisdom, Mr. Kirby and Tony are reconciled about what is really important.

You Can't Take It With You first opened on Dec. 14, 1936 in the Booth Theatre in New York City. Awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1936, this comedy ran 837 performances on Broadway. Playwrights George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart sold the film rights to Columbia Pictures for a record-setting amound, and the 1938 film won an Academy Award for Best Picture. You Can't Take It With You has become an American classic, regularly produced by high school, colleges, and community theaters around the country. Successful Broadway revivals in 1965 and 1983 also attest to the play's timeless appeal.

Synopsis.

Four of Shakespeare’s finest tragedies combined and adapted into a hilarious comedy spoof.  The play opens with Antony and Cleopatra, the story of the notorious “Queen of the Nile” and her various romances.  Next up is Macbeth, which charts the murders committed by the conniving Lady Macbeth and her husband.  Next we present Richard III, which follows the many schemes of the villainous Richard III.  Bringing up the rear is Hamlet, in which a young prince deals in some crazy ways with the murder of his father and seeks revenge.
