| For grade 8 students, via Social Science classes, which study the Civil War during the course of the year. To help students understand the Civil War, a conflict between the Union and the Conferacy lasting from 1861 to 1865, "reenactors" explain its causes, events and effects. More than 600,000 people lost their lives in the Civil War, and some $5 billion worth of property was destroyed. The War brought freedom to four million black slaves. The company staging the reenactment is Vermont Volunteers Historical Association. | |||||||||||||||
