Service is the rent we pay for being.
It is the very purpose of life, and not something you do in your spare time.

Manna Food Drive, Monday-Wednesday, April 23-25, 2007
Please donate your non-perishable food items.

No COTY points are issued for Manna, only our deepest appreciation. A philanthropist named Mr. Feinstein is willing to donate up to to $1,000,000 to match the food collected for Manna in April 2007. Our goal is to make Mr. Feinstein pay up in a big way! So keep bringing in the food and he will keep shelling out the dough.

Pennies for Patients Campaign in Full Swing, March 19 to April 13, 2007
Pennies for Patients website

Pennies for Patients will run from Monday, March 19 to Friday, April 13.  There will be one collection boxes located in each homeroom. Students should just place their donations into the boxes (they do not have to be just pennies).  This is a homeroom activity but it is not a homeroom competition and will not count for COTY points.  So far, there is no goal, just as much as we can get!!!

'Toys 4 Tots' & Adopt-A-Child: until Dec. 16, 2005
It is that time of year when your homeroom can give to others!  Many Mansions has changed their format and are doing "Adopt A Child," not  "Adopt A Family."  In addition, we are coordinating the Colina Community Toys-4-Tots Campaign.  Likewise, Ms. Saleh would like 10 Colina Families to be adopted this holiday season.

We would like each homeroom and others to participate in the following way:

1. Adopt 1 child from the Many Mansion "Adopt A Child" ~ Gift Under $30
2. Bring in at least 5 toys for the Toys-4-Tot Campaign ~ No $ Limit and Not Wrapped
3. Consider Adopting a Colina Community Family ~ Specifics for Interested Homerooms Later

Yes, we are asking for a lot, #1 and #2 especially, and #3 if your class can do it.  Remember, lets give, since we have so much!

Everything will be collected Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 during Period 1.

Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief: Sept. 2005
Hey Colina, did you know that about many people have died from Hurricane Katrina and many are still not found?  Well, it is your chance to help.  If you have spare change or money donate it to your homeroom class.  Remember your donations will make a difference in someone's life. Hurricane relief donations may, of course, be made to such agencies as American Red Cross.

Indonesian Tsunami Relief: Jan. 2005
As a result of the January 2005 Indonesian tsunami, some one-fourth million lives were lost, with many other people injured and homeless. Thousands of children were left orphaned. Scores of international and national agencies, including American Red Cross, CARE USA, and Save the Children, engaged in collection drives to raise funds to help survivors and their families. Many local relief efforts, as well, were undertaken, including at Colina. Through our Cougars Care campaign, Colina collected some $2,000 in cash and 75 pounds of change, exceeding our goal.
