| 3-2-1 BLAST OFF! - Penny Hutchens -Off to the races with pop rockets. Learn how to take advantage of aerodynamics, drag, propulsion to make an energy efficient design. Will you win the competition?
AERODYNAMICS- Kelly Beck and Katia Hirschthal-Egg heads at MIT have perfected the science of protecting bodies in flight. Come test your skills as a designer. Various materials will be available to protect your egg "passenger." AFTER IMAGE- Kathy Jorgenson- An after image is what we see.... even after we STOP looking withour eyes! Come learn how to make your brain to do tricks! BIRDS OF PREY- Pat Doring- Birds of prey dive towards the earth to capture their prey... then what happens? Meet some of the birds of prey, become closely acquaineted with owls and examine owl pellets to identify skeletal remains. CHOCOLATE CHIP ARCHEOLOGY- Jason Busby- Come learn the techniques used to explore the depths of ancient civilizations. Unlike most "digs", however, you get to eat the results of your labors! CHOICES- Jerry Leavitt- Sugar cubes, acid nails, and "BB"s will demonstrate how your choices will effect you. Come experiment to determine what does a body good! DRY ICE INVESTIGATIONS- Tom Hoegeman & Patrick Twomey-Is it a solid? Is it a gas? Why is it so cold? What do you do with it? Explore the many uses of dry ice and its unusual properties with these ice masters! JOURNEY THROUGH THE UNIVERSE- Hal Jandorf- Take an imaginary spaceship through the solar system and out to the star clusters, nebulae, and farthest galaxies. Learn the phases of the moon and survey your own star, the sun. KITCHEN CHEMISTRY- Adrianne Alderton- One of the best laboratories for experimentation is right in your home! Come learn some of the tricks of the trade! LUCK? THAT'S RANDOM!- Alex Loewenthal-Or is it? Can we measure luck? Can you avoid failures? What could you do if you knew the odds? What are the odds that you will learn something fun and useful in this class? MATH......IT'S A GAME!- Satish Kayastha- Observation and deduction are the logical steps to solve mathematical puzzles. Come join the fun! MATH ORIGAMI- Peg Cagle- Enjoy the excitement of building math forms by folding a circle. This is something that will amaze your math teacher....and your Mom! PIE A LA MODE- Shirley Clark- What makes up a pie? Åpples and sugar? Not in this classroom! Come explore the successful compilation of Pi.....mathematics style! PIZAZZ!!- Morgan Gunby- Come test your creativity as you combine Palindromic sequences, Parallel lines, regular Polygons, and Pretty colors! This math exploration is full of Pizazz! READY OR NOT- Mary Soelberg- Somebody gets hurt.....now what? Do you know the basics of caring for an injury...even your own? Be prepared. Join this class and learn basic first aid skills. ROCK 'N OUT- Ann McCartney- Ignatious, sedimentary, and metamorphic are all terms that will become comfortable parts of your vocabulary as you experience and learn to demonstrate the earth's rock cycle! SOLVING SECRET SPIRALS- Tiffany Kuhl- Discover where there are numbers hidden in nature and have fun making your own number spiral! SPIDERMAN!- Russell Stephens- There is a mystery here. Working in small groups you will be able to solve the mathematical puzzle that leads to success! Come join the fun! STAR BURST MADNESS- Amma Eng- Create your own 8-sided star that turns into a lifesaver! Impress your friends with this amazing math artwork! TERRIFIC TANGRAMS- Ilissa Twomey- Experiment with geometry as we delve into the ancient world of Chinese mathematics. This picture perfect method of working with shapes will become a happy habit! Can YOU make a frog out of a triangle? TOWER OF STRESS- Troy Strawn- Come explore the strength of circles, squares, and triangles. Experiment and learn how they hold each other together. Who can build the highest building as we race to the sky?!!? UPTY UP UP, AND DOWNTY DOWN DOWN!- Chris Regan & Jerry Block - Create drops and loops and corkscrews as you build your own roller coaster. Great fun will be had by all as you explore the physics of this theme park main attraction! VIRTUAL SCAVENGER HUNT- Jeff Vickers- Do you Yahoo? What's a Google? Who is Jeeves? Is there more to do on Amazon that just buy things? Learn about all of the sites and surf the net at the same time! WINGS OF FLIGHT- Mike Robbins and Dennis Ritterbush- Come create your very own airplane, learn to fly it, and compete in an obstacle course to demonstrate your mastery of the fundamentals of flight. WOOSH!- Don Kobabe- The gases of the universe allows us to breathe, inflate ballons, and create heat. Come join this investigation of why hot air ballons fly! ZIP LOCK ICE CREAM- Robert Starr- Explore the various states of matter as we turn simple ingredients into a delectable treat! Everyone can be a master chef! |
